Incredible Year for Volkswagen Group of America Walk Team
On May 18th at the Northern Virginia Walk in Leesburg, Volkswagen of America was recognized as the top corporate team for raising a total of $56,792. They broke up into 4 teams (Volkswagen, Audi, VCI and Group Functions) and were each challenged to raise $10,000 for JDRF. The group exceeded their expectations, as VCI raised $15,882; Group Functions raised$14,368; VW raised $13,656 and Audi raised $3,135.
The company also received the honor of winning the āBest Walk T-shirtā contest, with the slogan Shifting Gears for a Cure.
“I was very excited to see such a great turnout of our employees and their families,ā said Andrew Stuart, President & CEO, VW Credit, Inc., who was team captain for VCI. āThe weather was fantastic, but the spirit of community and service made the day. I’m truly grateful for all the support that our employees show for this very worthy cause.”
The weather was perfect, and the entire VWoA team enjoyed themselves as they gathered together at the walk with food, family and friends. Some even brought their little furry friends!
āThe walk was a very humbling experience as there were many people either walking for loved ones with Type 1 or were living with it themselves,ā Stuart said. āIt is such a great event and each year we look forward to having more employees join us.ā
