FALL 2015 JDRF CHAPTER INTERNSHIP: Special Events

JDRF Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter intern will be exposed to a wide variety of development practices and have a varied work experience. In concert with the needs of the chapter, our program allows students to choose a facet of the organization that interests them and learn through hands-on experience. It is intended to provide knowledge, skills, and experience that each intern can apply to future challenges and professional pursuits.

We currently have an internship opportunity available in our Linthicum, Maryland office!

Interns are expected to work 15-20 hours per week, with dates and times flexible. Internships are unpaid, but could receive academic credit or work study for their work with JDRF. Please ask your school for more information on academic credit approval and policy.

Special Events Interns will have the opportunity to take a leadership role in a key project that will include, but are not limited to:
• Support the auction procurement process, including follow-up phone calls to past and prospective item donors
• Compose social media posts for Hope Gala sponsors
• Assist with mailing list maintenance as needed
• Assist with stewardship of Hope Gala sponsors by collecting guest information, sharing handheld bidding user guide and collecting sponsor ads as needed by the Senior Development Coordinator
• Aid staff in the completion of mailings, including honoree’s solicitations, Gala research update event and Gala invitations
• Help keep Gala project website updated
• Additional Gala duties as assigned
• Minimum Commitment: 15 hours per week (TBD upon hire)
• College students preferred

Qualified Applicants
Applicants should have superior organizational and time management skills, excel working independently and seek to grow as professionals. Strong interpersonal and communications skills, and comfort in a fast-paced environment are essential. Applicants must be able to work as a team, and must demonstrate leadership qualities and a willingness to learn. Prior non-profit experience is preferred.
